The camel race is a traditional sporting activity in Arab countries, which was, in ancient times, one of the most anticipated events in various festivities. The two-day competition also includes a camel beauty contest, according to the festival organizer, adding that the festival was inspired by the Sheikh Zayed camels race festival, which was held annually also in Wadi Rum from 2008 to 2019.
